Toxic Bodies

Recently I read an article about our toxic burden and I thought I’d highlight a few of the key points. As we know, our bodies are unbelievable at keeping us as healthy as possible and that it often takes decades of abuse before our systems can no longer “fight the fight”. This is when we are finally diagnosed with autoimmune and inflammatory disorders, as well as many of the cancers.

So what does this have to do with colon hydrotherapy? Everything!

Digestive and inflammatory system diseases and disorders are the most common health issues today. In 2009 the American Cancer Society identified more than 160,000 cases of colon cancer and 40,000 cases of rectal cancer. Did you know that 90% of these cancers are related to a poor diet and an overload of toxins in our systems? Basically, our systems just can’t keep up to the abuse we put them through and in the end we become very sick.

A few statistics in the United States:

  • Over 100 million people have digestive disorders
  • 65 million have chronic heartburn
  • 58 million suffer from irritable bowel syndrome
  • 50 million are lactose intolerant
  • 5 million have chronic constipation and require hospitalization

Sadly this is so common, in almost every household. People have heartburn, diarrhea, constipation and can’t drink milk without having a tummy ache. And yet, we just carry on and wait for our systems to adjust – maybe take a few pills. But seldom do we see these symptoms as the real “red flags” that they are and stop what ever it was that cause these mild yet alarming symptoms.

The bottom line is that we need to select our foods much more carefully and detox, detox, detox. There is no avoiding toxins.  They are everywhere, but our body’s overall toxic burden must be reduced. And the best place to start is in your colon! Everything we consume or absorb winds up in your colon. If your body can’t use what it consumes, it is waste and it often becomes trapped in the colon. It is common for individuals to have 10 – 20 pounds of putrefied waste coating their colon walls!

When toxins overwhelm your colon, it protects itself by producing extra mucous. This gunk sticks to the sludge produced by a low fiber diet and creates a build-up that narrows the passageway for your stool to get through. This gunk is the perfect sticky breeding ground for health-depleting microorganisms and makes your colon work less efficiently thus slowing down your transit time.

Bowel transit time should be 8 – 14 hours.  This reduces toxin absorption, bloating, gas, indigestion, parasite infection and disease development. When transit time is slow it also affects other immune functions specifically the liver and the lymphatic system.

The good news? There are ways to reverse and correct our troubled digestive systems. Through eating natural fiber and colonic irrigation you can feel better and age gracefully without looking and feeling old.
